Possibly the best rapper in the game right now and his mentor – Kendrick and Dre, respectively – drop a track together. Oddly, Dre’s flow in this one sounds surprisingly similar to Kendrick….. But I’m not claiming ghost writing or anything.
Anyways, it’s a Dre beat, so you know the production is great, and any verse that sounds like Kendrick (or is Kendrick) is amazing, so the verse are sweet. The hook may have left some to be desired, but that’s all good. This is presumably a single off of Kendrick’s upcoming album, “Good Kid in a Mad City”. Young Diggy responds to a friendly “diss” off J. Cole’s “Grew Up Fast”, in which he also talked about Diggy’s sister, Vanessa. No offense to Diggy, but you can certainly tell that he’s 17 on this track: first he tells Cole that he has no friends, then he calls him a dweeb. Cole could easily rip Diggy in a beef, but I doubt he thinks it is worth his time.
DJ Khaled once again has put together an all-star crew to go in on one of his songs. As expected, Chris Brown delivers a catchy hook and Ross gives us a pretty good verse. Wayne & Nicki are hit-or-misses for me, Nicki’s verse being good and Wayne’s being decent on this one. Khaled’s got himself another radio and club banger. Download the track here.
Ever since Kirko Bangz dropped this single, it has been dominating the radio and the clubs. However, it is only recently that someone has decided to drop their own bars over this track. Just in the past week, J. Cole, 2 Chainz, and Bow Wow have all given us their perspective on the track. Download each by clicking on the artists name.
Mac Miller has truly put together a great work of art. His newest mixtape which dropped today – which includes features from the likes of Lil’ Wayne, Cam’ron, and Kendrick Lamar – is mostly album material. Personally, I wasn’t exactly this type of mixtape. In all honesty, I expected Macadelic to be just a lot of filler tracks. I was pleasantly surprised though. Download the mixtape here.
The mastermind behind Maybach Music seems to be slacking a bit. His forthcoming album, “God Forgives, I Don’t”, has been delayed thrice already, with the original release date being set in November of 2011. That came and passed, and The Boss set the release in December 2011. That, too, passed, and Ross announced that the album will be released in the first quarter of 2012. Well, guess what? That’s come and gone too. So who knows when it will drop?
Ross accumulated enough hype with his massive late-2011 mixtape “Rich Forever” to be named MTV’s Hottest MC of 2011, but thus far, Ross has failed to capitalize on that hype by pleasing his fans with an album. The future in unknown for this album…
The leader of the Squarians sent his faithful followers a new mixtape featuring all his most recent songs and a couple new songs. Vizzy, as always, killed every track on here. Every verse he spits is littered with punchlines and his great flow. Download the tape here.
The most Ambitious man in the world blessed his fans with another one of his freestyles. Wale is honestly one of the few modern rappers who can be impressive in a freestyle that is really a freestyle. Download the track here.
