“The Recipe” – Kendrick Lamar ft. Dr. Dre

Possibly the best rapper in the game right now and his mentor – Kendrick and Dre, respectively – drop a track together. Oddly, Dre’s flow in this one sounds surprisingly similar to Kendrick….. But I’m not claiming ghost writing or anything.

Anyways, it’s a Dre beat, so you know the production is great, and any verse that sounds like Kendrick (or is Kendrick) is amazing, so the verse are sweet. The hook may have left some to be desired, but that’s all good. This is presumably a single off of Kendrick’s upcoming album, “Good Kid in a Mad City”. Download the track here, and check out the lyrics over on RapGenius.

Download Link: Mac Miller – “Macadelic” Mixtape

Mac Miller has truly put together a great work of art. His newest mixtape which dropped today – which includes features from the likes of Lil’ Wayne, Cam’ron, and Kendrick Lamar – is mostly album material. Personally, I wasn’t exactly this type of mixtape. In all honesty, I expected Macadelic to be just a lot of filler tracks. I was pleasantly surprised though. Download the mixtape here.

2011 Hottest MC’s in the Game List Doesn’t Include Kendrick Lamar

The man who put out what is nearly obviously the best album (or… “Retail Mixtape”- Section .80*) of 2011, it has been revealed, is not included on MTV’s 2011 Hottest MC’s in the Game list. How? Don’t ask me. This doesn’t make any sense to me. But whatever, Kendrick himself is taking it well, so I ain’t mad either…

*Check out all the lyrics to Section .80 on RapGenius here. – You’ll see why I called it the best thing in 2011.

Check out the artist who did make the list so far here. Only the 10-6 slots have been announced, we’ll see the top 5 next week.

New Kendrick Lamar- “Cartoon & Cereal” (Download Link)

One of the best rappers in the game delivers another hard-to-comprehend track about many things: from not wanting to be like his father, to trying to make his momma rich, from watching cartoons with wiley coyotes in ’em, to living amongst wiley coyotes, from watching cartoons & eating cereal, to gangbanging, back to the coyotes… Check out K. Dot’s latest masterpiece for yourself:

Nipsey Hussle’s “The Marathon Continues: X-Tra Laps” (Download Link)

Nipsey said it best himself on the intro to his new project, “The Marathon Continues: Xtra Laps”:

“Dropped The Marathon in December, n***** still late”.

And it’s so true. I’ve been with Hussle since he dropped that Marathon tape back in December, and he has never once disappointed me, this latest tape included. He’s one of the few modern-day West Coast artists, along with YG and Kendrick Lamar, that I can get into. He dropped one track every hour on the hour yesterday off his new tape, and every song is good. Check the new tape out, with download link :

“I’m On”

Trae tha Truth is on his DJ Khaled flow: getting a bunch of rap’s superstars to hop on his tracks and make hits, and boy does it work. Back at the start of July 2011, Trae dropped “I’m On”, a song with a catchy sample over a smooth beat with a special treat: verses from Lupe Fiasco, Big Boi, Wale, Wiz Khalifa, and Trae himself. And every single verse is legit. I had it on repeat for a month or more.

Then, about a week ago, the song was revisted by Trae, Big K.R.I.T., Jadakiss, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, and Bun B. Some dirty south, West Coast, Cole World, YMCMB, and UGK on the same song. And it may be even better than the original.

Hey, when Gudda has a good verse, you know you got a good song on your hands….
